Vol State lost to Wallace State on the road at Hanceville, Alabama 54-61. The Pioneers, who defeated Wallace State at home On November 21, suffered a cold night of shooting with less than 29% fg. Early in the first half, Vol State was down 26-6 but rallied to a 33-23 half-time deficit. Behind George Stanberry's 20 points, the Pioneers rallied to keep it a single possession game with four minutes left in the game. Chase Hawkins' 8 points and 10 rebounds kept things close on the board all night. Aspen Bush, filling in for an injured Alex Shaw, hit 2 three's down the stretch and had a total of 8 points, 3 steals and 4 assists. Kevin Rimmer finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Byron Dean had 5 points. Elijah Shaw-2 points, NaDonnis Easley-1 point and Rasean Taylor-2 points rounded out the scoring.
The Pioneers will return to action January 12 and 13 on the road at Walters State and Roane State. They will return home January 19 and 20 against Southwest Tennessee and Dyersburg State.
