The Volunteer State Lady Pioneers will kick off the 2017 basketball season on Tuesday, October 17 at home against Vincennes University at 6:00 pm. After a month of conditioning work and preparation, Coach Key is ready to see how the young team will compete. "I'm excited to see where we are at this point because we have some players that are still learning and some that should be well adapted to college basketball and I know the players are tired of going against themselves in practice," Key said. The 2017 team returns one player, Zoe Johnson, from the previous year that saw all six sophomores go on to play at four-year universities. "The motivation for this year's team is to be the next player that moves on to a four-year school and they are working very hard toward that goal. As long as we compete hard every night, have a positive attitude and have each other's back, then I feel we can make the necessary progress to be a very good team by tournament time in March."
