GALLATIN, TENNESSEE — The Vol State Lady Pioneers (5-4) head down to Chattanooga tomorrow morning bright and early to go face off against Chattanooga State and Cleveland State.
Last season the Pioneers faced these two schools in two series one at home and one on the road as well. Defeating the Martin Methodists JV team on Tuesday 62-54 the Pioneers hit the road for a road swing that has two conference opponent pit stops.
Chattanooga State (5-3) bested the Pioneers the first outing last season 61-50 but game two found the Pioneers win on the road 56-55. The Tigers latest game of the season was a loss at Jackson State 50-49 and as for bounce backs go this is a chance against the Pioneers.
Following the game tomorrow evening the team will rest in Cleveland, Tennessee to play the Cougars the next day. Cleveland State (2-7) last time out against the Pioneers the Cougars won both games (66-62) the first outing in Gallatin then another win in Cleveland (75-60). The Cougars have lost six in a row and the latest game found them losing to Wallace State 114-60.
For as far as the Pioneers will travel a sweep this weekend would put them higher up in the conference standings before heading off for Christmas break. The next time the Pioneers will have a game at home is Jan. 11 against Walters State Community College.
Game one tips off at 7:30 EST to face off against the Chatt State Tigers on Friday night. Stay in the loop with the Pioneers as they head to Chattanooga this weekend by following @VSCCPioneersWBB on Twitter. Pre-game and post-game coverage will be posted online.
