WSCC Defeats Vol State Men in OT 84-79
Vol State led by three with 20 seconds left in the game on the foul line with two free throws. Vol State missed both and their point guard, Decorrian Kelly (#13) hit a 40 ft bank shot to put the game into overtime with the score 69-69 at the end of regulation.
Peyton West led Vol State with 18 points, 4 assists, and 10-10 from the free throw line; he played 39 minutes. Jaylan Clemmons 15 points (7-8 from foul line), Kailon Benton-Hamilton 14 points and 5 assists, Isaiah Perry 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6-6 from free throw line, Kaden Paul 8 points, Brennon Marsh (fouled out in regulation) 8 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, Davion Moses 4 points and 2 rebounds.
The Pioneers are 3-7 and 1-4 in conference. Two loses came on a last second 3-point shot at Cleveland State and Walters State hitting a 3-point at the buzzer to tie it. Vol State will resume play on January 3 at home against nationally ranked Wabash Valley at 6:00 pm. They will travel to Jackson State January 5 and return home January 8 at 4:00 pm against Roane State. Admission is free!
